Get ready for the Enfield Public Library’s Summer Reading Kickoff on Wednesday, June 26th, featuring a special “Meet the Author” event at 7:00 PM with journalist and author, Denis Horgan.

West Hartford resident, Denis Horgan is a veteran journalist and author, well-known to Connecticut readers for his books and 25-years of columns for the Hartford Courant. He has also worked in newspapers in Washington, D.C., Boston, Massachusetts, Bangkok Thailand, and Dublin, Ireland, and has won a wide variety of journalism awards for his social, political and humorous commentary.  He has traveled widely across the region, the nation and the world, while always keeping a special appreciation of the importance and vitality of affairs close to home.

His newest book, “The Bangkok World,” is a memoir of his fascinating days as an Army officer during the war in Southeast Asia and as editor of the English-language newspaper of that name in Thailand. “The Bangkok World” recalls Denis’s amazing experiences as very young man caught up in the great swirls of overseas newspapering and the bitter conflicts that were going on it in those turbulent, formative times. His earlier books include: “Ninety-Eight Point Six … and other stories,” “The Dawn of Days,” and “Flotsam: A Life in Debris.”

Denis will have books on hand for sale and signing.
